Good day to you, Hastings! I'm here to highlight our little piece of America that's bursting with news, events, and whatever else we might trip over. Yeah, you heard right. Anyway, let's see what's shaking in town this week.
Our first stop is at Hastings Trap & Skeet, where Collin Meyers, the senior captain of the Raiders, showed us that age has nothing on precision. The guy claimed first place in the Annie Oakley competition, leaving a whopping 400 kids in his dust. Now that's the kind of winning spirit we like to see. Makes you want to stand up and salute, doesn't it?
While we're on the subject of winning, the Lock And Dam Eatery is cooking up some gold medal worthy specials this week. Burrata? Fresh mozzarella? Bruschetta with toasted Crustini? If you're drooling like a Pavlov dog, you're not alone. But remember, there's no specials next week, because of RTD. I don't know what RTD is, but let's hope it's not contagious.
Just when you thought we couldn't get any more delicious, Hastings Raider Nutrition is rolling out their July Specials. Banana Wafer? Watermelon Thunder? Purple Rain? I don't know what kind of mad scientist works there, but I want to shake their hand... after I wipe off the sticky smoothie residue, of course.
If your kid is the next LeBron James, you've got one more week to sign them up for the Jr. NBA camp at Hastings Community Education. They even get a custom jersey to take home and promptly lose in their room.
Next up, Schoolhouse Scoop is introducing new ice cream sammies. I’m not sure what a "scoopwich" is, but it sounds like something I need in my life. Maybe two or three.
In the spirit of community, the City of Hastings Government is encouraging everyone to register for the National Night Out party. It's a chance to meet your neighbors without having to borrow a cup of sugar or complain about their dog. Plus, the Hastings Police or Fire Department might even swing by your party. Now, isn't that neat?
At Me & Julio, it's BLT season. They're not just sticking it between bread either. We're talking BLT soup, BLT salads, and even Barbacoa Quesadilla Tacos. Try saying that three times fast.
Meanwhile, nearby Genesis Ranch is having a grand opening that involves free food, champagne, and tours. If you’re thinking what I'm thinking, see you there!
Ever thought about a hair topper? Me neither, but Creative Hair Design might just change our minds. If you're tired of fighting with your hair, maybe it's time to bring in reinforcements.
Finally, a tip of the hat to our Hastings Raiders Football players who earned scholarships from the Hastings Football Connections booster program. Johnny, Payton, Raymond, Danny, and Pacer – well done, gents. You're doing Hastings proud.
Well, that's the rundown for today. You got some eating, partying, and sporting to do, and I got... well, more of this. Let's make the best of it, shall we? Until next time, keep it classy, Hastings. Or, at the very least, keep it interesting. I'm slightly eccentric local guide, signing off.
