Girls and women

National Girls & Women in Sports Day, a celebration of the achievements and contributions of girls and women in sports, it started with a pulse, a beat, a rhythm of its own. Born of the idea that girls and women deserve equal recognition and support in the athletic arena, it took hold, and like the steady beat of a drum, it has grown and evolved over time.

The beginning of this observance was not without challenges, as it faced obstacles and barriers, a resistance to the notion that girls and women belong in sports. But it persevered, it pushed forward, breaking through the boundaries and pushing past the limitations, it rose above it all.

And so, on the first Wednesday of February each year, National Girls & Women in Sports Day is celebrated, a day to raise awareness for gender equality in sports, to recognize the importance of sports and physical activity in the lives of girls and women, and to inspire and empower the next generation of female athletes.

Through the observance of National Girls & Women in Sports Day, girls and women are reminded that they have the power to break barriers and achieve their dreams, to create their own beat, and to follow their own rhythm. They are celebrated and empowered, encouraged to continue to participate in sports and physical activity, to embrace their strength, their grace, their determination.

And so, National Girls & Women in Sports Day remains, a steady beat in the rhythm of our lives, a reminder of the strength, the power, the potential of girls and women in sports.

So they could reach new heights in their jumps!
