In the vibrant community of Hastings, Minnesota, an event recently took place that captured the spirit of our collective commitment to supporting seniors - the inaugural Hastings Senior Expo. Among the enthusiastic vendors participating was Vicki Patterson, a dedicated Information and Resource Consultant from DARTS.
DARTS, a nonprofit organization serving Dakota County for over 45 years, aims to transform the aging journey from a challenge into a celebration. DARTS helps seniors lean into their golden years, providing an array of services designed to enhance independence and foster connections.
Vicki, a compassionate advocate for seniors, shared the myriad ways in which DARTS provides support. From safe and professional transportation services that help seniors reach appointments and shopping destinations, to homemaking and caregiver services that ensure a comfortable living environment, DARTS covers a vast range of needs.
In the words of Vicki, DARTS is there to provide support and help seniors "live in their living arrangement for as long as they would like to." This approach is a living testament to the mission of DARTS: creating connections that enrich aging.
Volunteerism, a cornerstone of DARTS, also plays a significant role in serving the older adults in the community. The organization provides a platform for group and individual volunteering all year round1, enabling community members to make a real difference in the lives of seniors.
